Together with La Hesperia Biological Station
(located in La Esperie) the community of La
Esperie wants to establish a Community Centre
housing a preschool and an Adult Education
Centre. The preschool will open up time
previously held by child rearing duties to be
used towards taking classes at the Adult
Education Centre.
This project aims to empower its women through
education, leadership and participation in creating
and maintaining cooperative-based, sustainable
and conservation-focused economic activity. By
generating a greater amount of income through
alternatives to forestry La Esperie will be able to
provide better educational opportunities for both
women and children, increasing a general standard
of living while protecting the local environment of
the Choco Bio Region and the Tropical Andes Bio
Region.
